EATING OUT & SHOPPING
There is a local market for everyday of the week such as ISSIGEAC, a beautiful
old town with a market on a Sunday; a perfect way to start a holiday!!!
The larger towns of VILLENEUVE-SUR-LOT and BERGERAC are close for serious
shoppers. The area abounds with good restaurants. It is possible to get
a good four course midday meal, including wine, for as little as 13/16euros.
ACTIVITIES & SPORTS
Rambling and Cycling; the gentle rolling countryside
and near empty country lanes, paths, and bridleways offer ideal rambling
and cycling conditions.
Water Sports; canoes can be hired on the rivers of Dordogne
and the Lot. There is excellent swimming in the lakes nearby.
Golf; there are 9 and 18 hole golf courses within easy access.
Prices are often cheaper than the U.K. and clubs can be hired.
Fishing is permitted in many of the rivers. (a licence must
be obtained locally).
Other local activities; e.g. Outward Bound Park, horseriding,
tennis, birdwatching.

The area is steeped in history and there are many fine chateaux close
by to visit such as Chateau BONAGUIL and Chateau BIRON.
Beautiful historic towns and 'bastides' including SARLAT, PUJOLS,
BERGERAC, CADOUIN and MONPAZIER.
Breathtaking views will be discovered at BEYNAC, DOMME and ROCAMADOUR

Wine - An ideal centre for visiting Bergerac, Buzet, Monbazillac,
Duras and Cahors . The vineyards of St. EMILLION can be reached in one
and a half hours.
If you wish to explore even further afield, the PYRENEES, BORDEAUX, TOULOUSE
and the ATLANTIC COAST can all be reached in two to three hours. |
